"So, all I have to do is look for a little necklace right?" An overconfident blonde lady asked aloud. Hopping off the warm bullet train and onto the freezing icy train platform, she looked around at her surroundings. It was eerily quiet and the air felt as if it was on edge. Mei took quick glances around the train station. Aside from the people exiting the train, barely anyone else was here, aside from the few guards who stood tall and vigilant, patrolling the area in a robotic manner. Not one of them even gave her a passing glance. Surprising, considering it was a young woman in a short skirt walking around in the coldest part of Selene. 

Mei was somewhat surprised that there was even a train station here in the first place. Hell, she didn't even realise there was one until a few hours ago. Fortunately for her, the fare wasn't too expensive and it was around half a day's trip via the bullet train. After all, it was Old Lillium, the only people that ever went here were just liberators who wanted to challenge themselves and those who had to do missions here. Mei fell into the latter category.

"Ah! Yes, you will have to look for necklace. Thank you so much for doing this." A voice emerged from her earphones. Mei had gotten into contact with Kristen Swore, the giver of the mission so she could get a few more details about the said mission. As stupid as Mei could be, she had enough IQ points to at least get the client's contact info. "Um, be careful please. Its dangerous out there, Miss Haya..." Kristen was, well, a tad worried when she found out that one of the mission takers was this... irresponsible young girl. It wasn't very reassuring to say the least.

"Oh, please! You don't gotta worry Miss Swore! I'll be totally fine! Haha!" The teenager declared confidently, proudly puffing out her chest to no one in particular. Mei took a seat on the cold bench, feeling her body heat starting to melt parts of the ice away. Purple eyes took a good look over at the people exiting. Most, if not all, of them looked ready for combat. Weapons in hand, wearing battle ready clothes and all bundled up. This indicated to her that none of them were ice-ethos users. However, she was looking for a certain person in particular. "So, Miss Swore? Whose joining me on this mission anyways?" She asked curiously, it only occurring to her now that she'd probably need a good description of said partner in order to find them.

"It's young girl. Her name is Phaedra. She's abo-."

"That's all I needed to know! Cover your ears Miss Swore!"

"Huh?! What are you-."

Mei got up, took out her earphones in a rush, muted her phone and took a huge breath in.

"HEYYYYYYY!! I'M LOOKING FOR A MISS PHAEDRA!! I'M YOUR PARTNER FOR THIS MISSION!" 

Her irritatingly loud shriek echoed throughout the train station, garnering her massive amounts of attention. All glances towards the loud scream led to a girl with her hands on her hips, looking real proud of herself. Many took a quick irritated glances before walking off and minding their own business. The guards seemed... less than pleased with Mei's shout. In fact, Mei was pretty sure that almost all of them were giving her the scariest of death glares. Mei chuckled nervously and bowed, apologising sweetly. A few guards sighed, another few shook their heads, and one of them just told her to shut her mouth from now on. 

Not one of her best ideas...

Slowly but surely, Phaedra made her way through the town, the destination of the mission she decided to take with a randomer, someone that she does not know at all. She wasn’t sure how easy it was to work with others for her, she did have a bad experience with other people after all.

Trawling around, she heard a voice nearby, and it called for her adopted name. She was relieved at first, but at the same time, she was kinda worried, she didn’t know how others will take to her when they find out she was the one named Phaedra. Luckily, it wasn't her real name. She had to keep it secret in case anyone else followed her.

Dashing towards the source of the shout, she started to think if it would be like this if anyone decided to chase her in a hot pursuit or something. In this little fantasy of hers, she would accomplish her mission. In real life, however, she eventually tripped up. Looking up, she discovered it was right in front of someone clad in pink, like a ninja. She also looked like a typical blonde bimbo, but she kept that thought to herself, some blondes are smart and intelligent, after all.

Coughing lightly, she stood up and crossed her arms.

“Hello there! Sorry… for being late. I am Phaedra, and I am here for the mission.” She greeted them with a rather large grin on her face. “I am Phaed- oh wait, I already said that.”

How did she forget what she said previously?! It must have been from the trip.

“What's the crack then?? Any plans??”

Actually, scratch that! It was one of her best ideas because lo and behold, in came running a woman who tripped on her face and introduced herself as the fabled Phaedra, with an adorable grin on her face. Mei immediately knelt down and held out her hand, but the young lady seemed to be fine and got up. Well, at least she wasn't fragile. "It's great to meet you! I'm Mei! As for plans... Ah, well..." Mei scratched the back of her head, she... didn't think that far ahead. Well, she didn't think in general. Perhaps, it'd be best to formulate a plan... 

"Miss Haya? Are you there? Is everything alright?" A voice emerged from her phone. In response, which she switfly it picked up and tapped a small button on the screen. It took a small moment but soon, Mei's face popped up on a little small rectangle at the bottom, now video calling Kristen. Strangely enough, Kristen stayed as a black screen, most likely to conceal her identity. As if to reassure Kristen's worries, the blond kunoichi gave a good ol' thumbs up. Mei swore she heard a sigh of relief from the other side. What? Didn't she have any faith in her? Actually, she was pretty sure that not even her own dad had any faith in her. 

"Yup! Everything is all good Miss Swore! I just met Phaedra and we're gonna go find your necklace!" She smiled brightly, like the sun itself and panned the phone to Phaedra. "Anyways, Miss Swore, I'm going to have to leave you on video call, that way, you can guide us to where the necklace is!" Mei placed a hand on her hip as she slotted in the device in her waistband. Turning her attention to her brand new companion, she made a quick analysis of the girl. 

Blue eyes, black hair, nice rack, white dress. "Hey, aren't you cold? I mean, I'm fine because I have Ice Ethos and all. Do you have it too?" She asked curiously, noticing her rather odd outfit. It was cute and all but it certainly wasn't appropriate for walking around in the icy tundra of Old Lillium. Then again, it wasn't like Mei herself wasn't dressed inappropriately but hey, she had an excuse. "If you're cold, you can borrow my scarf if you need it!" She offered, an exuberant smile on her face. "Oh right, Miss Swore! Lead the way, do you know where the necklace would be?"

"Ah, yes, go onto the main trail from the train station. I will guide you from here."

"Alrighty! We'll go then! Miss Phaedra, we can know each other a little more on the way!"

“Oh dear lord.” The girl mumbled, she really was a blonde bimbo… She didn’t have a plan?! Phaedra sort of had a plan, but that was all in the world of fantasy, in reality, it may not even be a thing at all.

Being asked if she was cold in what she was wearing, she looked down to her feet and then looked back to Mei with a neutral expression on her face. This was cold? She hasn’t even noticed... Welp, that's another thing she discovered about herself.

“I mean, I feel a tad chilly, but I should be fine.” The girl answered as she crossed her arms. “If I need the scarf though, I will ask.” She really won’t ask for the scarf, but she was thankful for the offer. After all, it was only polite to either take the offer or not, and to tell them after.

“As for your Ethos question, I am a healer, I do not have the Ethos of ice. I do however, know how to fight if tit comes to tat. Do not fear.” Phaedra attempted to reassure. Thanks to some small hunts for food, she knew how to tackle things quickly and efficiently, and with hardly any problems, unless they were really aggressive.

Overhearing the conversation, Phaedra nodded slowly as she took in the bimbo’s words. She didn’t know how this little adventure would turn out to be, but then again, this could be the creation of a friendship as well, something Phaedra would like in a world as dangerous as this. Everyone needs allies.

“Getting to know each other on the way sounds fun. Let’s go! The lady shall get her precious necklace back.” Phaedra spoke in a confident attitude. Phaedra knew how important sentimental things were, and it wasn’t fair if people didn’t have access to their sentimental items.

Ah, a healer... Interesting. She thought to herself. Well, Phaedra said she could fight. Mei would have to take her world for it. Still... could such a frail clumsy girl really fight? Well, she seemed pretty sure of herself. That was all Mei could really go off. She just hoped that Phaedra didn't end up getting badly hurt, or worse, killed. The little heroine wannabe loathed the thought of that happening, she was going to make sure that didn't happen.

"Hehe, thank you very much. I will forever be in your debt for this. I really cannot express how grateful I am..." 

"You don't have to worry about it Miss Swore! Save for the thanks after we've given you your necklace back!" Mei's perky tones were certainly both reassuring... and rather concerning. It was a strange and delicate balance. Despite the possible danger that lurked, that optimistic smile never faded. It stayed as bright and cheerful as ever. It also was as arrogant as it was ignorant. With that same, strangely idealistic smile on her face, Mei started her walk from the train station to the main path, her heels clacking along the frozen cement of the platform.

"So, Miss Phaedra, tell me a little about yourself! Where are you from? What do you do? Have you been on a super huge adventure before?" The kunoichi asked with enthusiasm infused in her voice, her violet eyes now focused on Phaedra. She wanted to know about her new companion, after all, it's not every day she ran into a girl who walked around barefoot in the middle of an icy tundra. Well, Mei herself could probably handle that, but she was an exception! Besides, Phaedra was a healer too and a klutz! She had to know more about her!
